There were flares, platform shoes and funky riffs aplenty last weekend, when Hog Roast Wythall were asked to get our groove on and cater for a 70s themed birthday bash! The funky function was being thrown by Neil for his wife Liz’s 60 birthday and he knew she would love a nostalgic trip down memory lane by recreating the vibe of their heyday, with the added bonus of a fabulous hog roast buffet!
After looking through our extensive party menus, Neil knew he had found exactly the right caterers. He decided our modern interpretation of classic flavours would fit with the retro theme, delight his pork-loving wife, and ensure there were enough options to please all of the 80 guests. When it comes to party menus, we offer the whole shebang, including gluten-free and vegetarian options, and Neil was relieved he would be able to give his wife her ideal birthday meal and still manage to cater for everyone else’s tastes and requirements too.
Hog Roast Wythall arrived on the scene several hours before the party was due to start and had the preparations well underway whilst Neil was still deciding which psychedelic shirt to wear for the evening. By the time the 70s soiree was ready to roll, the tender pork was ready to be carved after being delicately slow-roasted throughout the day, and our array of freshly-prepared salads were as vibrant and colourful as any of the dazzling outfits on display in the room! As disco fever hit the dancefloor, the party guests hit the serving table and were soon tucking in to the melt in the mouth meat and warm, buttery new potatoes and had their plates piled high with our own interpretation of Caesar salad, the ideal retro accompaniment, with our modern twist!
The birthday girl was in 70s heaven and whilst having a break from strutting her stuff on the dancefloor, Liz told us that the fab food Hog Roast Wythall had provided, made the night even more spectacular. Her husband Neil had no doubt earned some serious brownie points too! It was a thoroughly groovy night with great food and we’re glad Liz got the chance to relive her youth!
